Brambles and Heather, flowers and gifts in the heart of Tarleton, Lancashire.
Brambles and Heather began selling flowers and gifts in August 2018 but the story begins well before that. The owner, Nicola Huntington, has been a florist and an artist for many years. First of all Nicola started out as a dancer but following career changing injuries from a car accident she re trained as a solicitor. Nicola had a very successful legal career but felt that something was missing that allowed her creative side to flourish. When she left she found a passion for two things, photography and floristry. Whilst developing her skills as a florist, Nicola’s photography career exploded and her work capturing dance has now brought her international recognition. Under the name of Nicola Selby, Nicola has worked with a number of world renowned dance, commercial and television companies. Nicolas images have been published in a number of magazines including Elle UK and Vogue online.
But this only dealt with one passion. Building on her success, Nicola reinvested some of the profits from her photography into her dream shop. Brambles and Heather opened in the heart of the village she was born and grew up in, Tarleton.
Because of Nicky’s passion for art, Brambles and Heather was never going to be a ‘normal’ florist and gift shop. Combining her own vision, her love of a bit of opulence and some of the stylings found in some of Nicky’s favourite florists from around Europe, every aspect of the shop has been carefully designed. Nicky set out to create a new and stylish florist. Something different from the norm and somewhere customer’s felt not only relaxed browsing, but also inspired. Nicola has carefully selected the gift range in the shop. All gifts are the finest products from the UK and overseas. The majority of products are from sustainable sources.
Flowers
Above all, Nicola’s focus is high quality flowers that can only be found in a florist. Nicola combines modern, and traditional flowers to create stunning bouquets and arrangements, bringing her artists vision to life. Nicola’s reputation has already established itself in the local area with a regular customer base and a multitude of amazing reviews and testimonials from client.
Botanics
Nicola has sourced a selection of beautiful plants for the home. These include sort after succulents, aloe vera, cacti, mothers tongue, rare starfish variety, palms and many more. These plants offer a modern and on trend vibe to the home. Nicola also stocks a large selection of ceramic pots for indoor plants.
Gifts
Finally, as part of a forward thinking flower shop, Nicola has a broad selection of gifts, homeware and apothecary goods. This is an extension of Nicola’s love of quality, a touch of luxury and furthermore, the belief that everyone deserve a bit of a pamper! Brambles and Heather stocks a selective range of apothecary and aromatherapy products from leading companies like Pure Thoughts and MOA (Magic Organic Apothocary). When it comes to luxury candles our soy based, hand poured, luxury candles come from Los Angeles based P.F. Candles Co. As part of Nicolas commitment to sustainable development and fair trade. Nicola stocks a range of beautifully handmade products ranging from wine bottle tops, handprinted vases, hammered glass and many more items.
The market of silk flowers has exploded recently. New designs and better craftsmanship has seen a real resurgence in the silk flower industry. Most importantly Nicola has sourced the finest silk flowers that she can. The silks that Nicola stocks have been rivalled in magazines such as Vogue and have been given full approval from the RHS.
Brambles and Heather also stocks a small selection of occasional cards from the designer I Am Nat.
